It's Pretty Amazing They Are Still Alive!

I don't know that I should even be writing about these experiences as it is broadcasting to the world my mistakes, but here we go. A few weeks ago, the kids and I were heading out to a play group. I got the stroller outside but forgot to grab water, vital in the summer as we all know, and instead of shewing them all back inside, I just ran in to fill them up. I came back out and got Maxwell (the little boy I babysit) in the stroller and asked Whitney where Haylee was. She told me she was down the road and I walked out to the sidewalk, looked down the road and to my horror, Haylee had made it across the street and was on her way back! I yelled at her to stop and sprinted, but luckily, another mom was at the corner with her kids and ran out and saved Miss Haylee as there was a car coming! AAAHHH! What was I thinking! Anyway, turns out this other mom had felt prompted especially strongly to go to play group that day! Thank you beautiful Jenna for listening to the spirit! We talked and cried about it when we got to the park and have become best friends. Haylee has not refrained from her adventures into the road but now I know that I have to keep an eagle eye on that girl or she will sprint to her doom!
Whitney, on the other hand, knows not to go out in the road but doesn't know yet that only people bigger than herself can help her swim in the pool. One of my cousin's sweet boys offered to help her and couldn't handle it. They both went under but the amazing little man pushed Whitney up out of the water thus forcing himself under until one of the adults near by grabbed them. I had gone inside with Whitney to use the restroom and didn't want to battle the bathing suit back on and unwisely sent Whitney out on her own while I changed! Granted, there were plenty of adults around to thwart tragedy but when I heard the tale, I had to have a little tear before I could recover... Initially it sounded like Whitney had gone in kamikaze and Cooper had saved her and that made me really question my judgement, but they are both safe thanks to the good people around us.
My good friend, Erynn, let me borrow her bike and bike trailer for the summer while they are gone on an internship and it got STOLEN yesterday! It was really a bummer to have to call and tell her. I felt horrible about it because I had a bike chain in the trailer and didn't lock it up because I thought it would be safe in the back yard. There are so many people around our neighborhood on the 4th that I should have thought of that. The strange thing is my bike was sitting right next to it without a trailer and they went to the trouble of removing the trailer from her bike and stealing it! Weird... I hear thieves like to make return visits so my bike is now locked up, the trailer is in the shed and Whitney's bike is in the hall. Who wants a garage? Me!
See future posts for pictures from the 4th and stuff... if I can remember to do it.

I think Heavenly Father just knew that I needed a FANTASTIC friend like you in my life!!! So that was the way that he just decided to let it happen!

Don't sweat the bike. It could have happened to anyone. We'll get it sorted. :)
As for the kids...that could also happen to anyone. I think any mom who doesn't have "near-death" experiences with her children would have to be a super hero.

I couldn't even count the number of times I've thought "I'm just gonna hurry and do this, they'll be fine for a sec." And of course, guess what, that is when something happens. I've decided Heavenly Father gives childen extra protection and watches out for them closely. Bummer about the bike. That's sad someone would take it. It was great to see you. I am counting down to the next get together.
