The End of the Year!

When it hits December, it really feels like the year is winding up... Kind of sad for me. It flew by. I got a new job last week. It's kind of a crazy story. The principal and Calculus teacher at my niece's school got burnt out so he quit and took a job at another school! My niece called my sister right after she found out and my sister called me. They gave me an interview and hired me on Monday and I started on Tuesday. Yeah, crazy. I'm not the principal, but I got the job as the Calculus teacher and there are only three weeks in the term left! I teach on B days so only Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other Friday and I'm only gone from the girls for 2 hours each time. It is so great... I'm still looking for solutions for daycare but I have a few options. AP Calculus! It is like my dream job. I really feel like it just fell into my lap and I know that Heavenly Father is making it happen for me. Yay! Now I will have taught AP Statistics and AP Calculus. It doesn't get much better than that for a high school math teacher.

Another dramatic story... On Thanksgiving Eve, we discovered that the sewage from our house was backing up into our tub. We called a plumber and he told us that the main line to the street was clogged. He was going to charge our landlord $400 to fix it that night, or $150 if we waited till Friday. BIG MISTAKE!! We didn't worry about it on our end because we were just getting up in the morning and going to Colby's (my brother) house for Thanksgiving. We even showered at my grandma's house. We told our neighbor's upstairs but they were having Thanksgiving at their house and invited 15 people! Anyway, when we got home that night, it had flooded into our kitchen. We cleaned it up and headed to St. George...Whoops. Before the plumber came the next day, it had flooded again, all the way into our living room! We didn't know how bad it was until our landlord sent us pictures that his cleaning crew took. So, we attempted to save him $250 but ended up costing him another $600 in cleaning fees. Double whoops! We learned a few lessons.
1. Sometimes it's better to pay a little more to get it done sooner...
2. When other people (that you can't control) are involved, it might be better to avoid any damaging circumstances.
3. Keep valuable things off the floor (and everything if possible) when living in a basement apartment.

Thanksgiving was great! It was fun to see both families. Yay for living close enough to do it.

Sorry about the mess, but I am so glad you guys came down. It was good to see you. Hopefully it won't be too long until we're together again.

Crazy about the job. I'm surprised you still know calc. I would be scrambling! That really stinks about the sewage!

I don't really... I'm studying to teach, but it is enjoyable and I understand it way better than I ever did before.
